“Therefore, my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.”Isaiah 5:13 (KJV)
One of the worst things the devil will do to any human being is to keep him ignorant. The devil doesn’t care about how much you are present in the church and how much you pray or fast. He doesn’t care about how many translations of the Bible you have. All he is concerned about is to keep you in ignorance. In our scripture today, God said His people are gone into captivity, not because the enemy is strong, not because they had no weapon, but because they lacked knowledge.
I found out in my many years of ministry that one of the worst things happening to the Body of Christ is ignorance. There are things that people are suffering from which ordinarily they shouldn’t suffer from. The book of Proverbs 22:3 declares: “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (KJV)
As long as the enemy can keep you ignorant, he will have a field day. It Is not about much prayer. Prayer is important. It has its place. But prayer without understanding will not get you far.
Being a Christian without understanding or revelation is not going to help you. In such a situation, you are still a Christian, you’ve received Christ as your Lord and Saviour, but you will still go without. This happens not because God has not blessed you but because there are things you don’t know.
Some believers are suffering untold hardship in various areas of their lives: in their marriage, in their health and finances because there are things they ought to know that they don’t know. Pay the price to know the Lord for yourself. Refuse to remain a babe in the Lord.
How will you achieve this? Simple by studying and acting on the word of God. Don’t be a Christian that reads the Bible only on Sundays. Fall in love with the word of God. Make it your compass. Read, meditate and act on the word of God.
