MEMORISE: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 10:19

READ: Mark 16:15-18

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 18-20; Mark 7:1-13

MESSAGE:

In Ephesians 6:12-18, we are told to put on the whole armour of God so that we can enforce victory over the enemy. Luke 10:19 says that we are to trample upon snakes and scorpions, that is, we are expected to trample on the devil and his agents. Therefore, if there is any part of the dress code in Ephesians 6:12-18 we should not joke with, it is the shoes. If we want to thread upon serpents and scorpions barefooted, we will suffer casualties.

The shoes refer to evangelism. For you to regain your authority over Satan and his demons, you have to become a regular soul winner. If you are a soul winner, and you issue a command to demons, they will obey you trembling. They will obey you because you have already obeyed Jesus. In Luke 10:1-17, when Jesus sent His disciples out on evangelism, they came back with the report that demons trembled and obeyed them. If there was anyone among them who was there when Jesus sent them but refuse to go, then the fellow meets a demon on the way and decides to command it, do you think the demon will obey? Of course not. Jesus has sent us all out to evangelise, until we obey Him, we cannot trample on demons.

Action Point:

Demons recognise and respect evangelists.

Hymn 15:

1 O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2 The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3 Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4 O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
