Rejoice and thank God for the lives of others

1 Timothy 2:1 (KJV, NLT, LB), 1 Corinthians 1:4-5 (GNB)
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men *I urge you, … to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. *… Pray much for others; plead for God’s mercy upon them; give thanks for all he is going to do for them. *I always give thanks to my God for you because of the grace he has given you through Christ Jesus. For in union with Christ you have become rich in all things, including all speech and all knowledge.

The rejoicing and thanksgiving that God expects from you is more than what you give Him for His goodness and mercies in your life. God wants you to rejoice in Him and thank Him abundantly for His goodness and mercies in the lives of others. The Bible says, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion,” (Rom.12:15-16).

Put yourself in their shoes and rejoice as though it is you that received that provision, mercy or blessing. Rejoicing and thanking God for the lives of others is a sign of love and selflessness. It is a very important
character that we must develop. Do not let the fact that you may still be waiting on God for something similar or some other miracle discourage you from rejoicing and thanking God for the lives of others. When God manifests His glory and power in the life of your neighbour, it means that God is in the neighbourhood. Your time will come. What God does for one, He can do for all because He loves us all the same way that He loves Jesus.

A good time for you to carry this out is in the place of prayer. Do not only rejoice with people in their presence, rejoice with them in your time of prayer. Your prayer time should include prayers for others and before you pray for people, thank God for their lives. Rejoice and celebrate God’s grace and goodness over them as you lift them up to God for His touch and blessings. Thank God for His miracles, blessings and preservation over their lives. Thank God for the great plans and purpose He has for their lives. Thank God for all Christ has done for them.

Action Point:
Think of someone who recently experienced a blessing or miracle. Rejoice and thank God for them and also pray for them.
