Remain in Close Fellowship With God

Isaiah 55:6-7 (NLT), James 4:8 (NIV), Jeremiah 31:3b
Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. *Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. *… Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

When our text above instructs us to call upon God while He is near, it means that God wants us to always maximize every opportunity we have to fellowship With Him. Whenever there is an opportunity or whatever our hearts are stirring us to fellowship With God, we must not push off that desire to another time. That is the Holy Spirit stirring our hearts and we must not allow any other desire or distraction to keep us from spending quality time in fellowship with God. See every opportunity you have to fellowship with God as great privilege that will produce great impact and benefit in your life and even in the lives of others. Psalms 16:11 (NKJV) says, “you will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Never run away from God and don’t allow anything to cut you out of fellowship with Him. You don’t have to wait till a later time to repent and turn away from any wrong you may have done. The very moment you know you have slipped or fallen, receive God’s forgiveness and turn away from that wrong. Repent by receiving God’s word about you and that area of your life and renew your mind with it (Rom.12:2). God is always willing to have mercy upon us because of Christ. He doesn’t want us to be out of fellowship with Him for any single moment. Always run to God and remain in close fellowship with Him. The closer you are in fellowship with God, the more He will lead you into His will for your life and also use you for His glory and purpose. Always let the love of God motivate you to fellowship with Him. Don’t fellowship with God out of duty or compulsion; like someone who is being forced to. As you grow in fellowship with God, you will know Him more and become more like Him.

Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you for your great love for me. Help me to always run to you and to remain in close fellowship with you.
