REMAINING IN GOD’S PEACE

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-8 (GNB) Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. …my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.

As we pray with thanksgiving concerning the desires of our heart, God fills our hearts with His unusual peace. There is however something we must do to remain in this peace or to keep this peace in our hearts. We must be deliberate about thinking the right thoughts. What we choose to think about or fix our minds on, can keep us in God’s peace or take us out of God’s peace. Isaiah 26:3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” As we keep our minds on God, God keeps us in His perfect peace.

God, “… is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” (Eph.3:20). Our prayers and thoughts need to be aligned.

A good example of the kind of thoughts that keep us in God’s peace is thoughts about the love and kindness of God. The Bible says, “Perfect love drives out all fear” (1John 4:18a). As you fill your heart with thoughts of God’s perfect love for you, it will drive out every fear that wants to come in to disturb your peace. Be deliberate about the things you watch, read or listen to. Don’t focus on things that make you think thoughts of fear. Focus more on Christ and the Gospel, (Col.3:16).

FAITH DECLARATION:
My mind is always fixed on Christ and the love of God for me. I only think thoughts in line with my prayers.
