Remaining in the Flow of the Blessing of God

Galatians 3:1-2, 5 (NLT)
Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. …Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. *… does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.

We experience the flow and manifestation of the blessings of God in our lives because we have put all our faith in Jesus and in the wonderful things that He has done for us by His suffering, death, burial and resurrection. The moment we take our faith away from Jesus and begin to put our faith in our works or any other thing, we hinder the flow and manifestation of the power, blessing and glory of God in our lives as God desires. The reason Abraham was blessed and experienced God’s power and glory in his life was because of his faith. In Galatians 3:9 (NLT) we are assured that, ” …all who put their faith in Christ share the same Blessing Abraham received because of his faith.”

In our text above, Apostle Paul was worried about the Galatian believers because even after they had clearly received the revelation of Christ and it was real to them, they allowed themselves to be influenced by people who made them feel they had to obey the Law or depend on their human effort to be accepted and blessed by God. You and I also have to be very careful about this.

One reason why this happens is because often times, the message of God’s grace seems too simple and too good to be true. However, it is this good news about Christ and His works for us that causes us to experience the glory and the power of God (Rom.1:16, 1Cor.1:24). Because they abandoned their faith in Christ, Apostle Paul described them as bewitched or behaving as if a spell had been cast on them. This wrong mentality is what was preventing them from walking in the fullness of God’s will. When our faith is firmly rooted in Jesus and in His finished work for us, our faith will be strong and our lives will remain under the influence of God’s glory, power and blessings. This is God’s desire for our lives.

Prayers:
Dear Father, my faith is absolutely in Jesus and all that He has done for me. Thank you for the abundance of your blessings, glory and power in my life.
