I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth

Jesus challenged the church of Laodicea in the book of Revelation, and that message still rings true in these last days.

He accused the church of being lukewarm – indifferent and lacking passion. In a wealthy city known for its banking industry, thriving wool trade, and a medical school that produced a healing eye salve, the church had become proud and idle.

They smugly declared that they were rich, that they needed nothing from no one. But Jesus proclaimed them “wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked” (Revelation 3:17). They were so distasteful that they made Him want to vomit.

He counseled them to find their treasure in Him – not their great wealth. He urged them to don His robes of righteousness – not the clothing for which their town was famous. Instead of their celebrated salve, they needed Jesus to open their eyes to His truth.

Because He loved them, He urged them to repent for their halfhearted service, to stir up their cooling faith, to burn with zeal once again.

Has your relationship with Jesus grown cold? Have you traded the temporary for the eternal? Today, He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Fling it wide, and ask Him in to set you ablaze again.

Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May He set your heart afire to serve Him fervently all the days of your life.
