RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE DO RIGHT

“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.”  1 John 3:7 KJV

Righteousness is a gift you received when you gave your heart to Jesus Christ. It is not predicated on what good you have done. The book of Romans 4:5 says: “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (KJV).  It is your faith in Christ and the finished work on the cross that made you righteous. Isaiah 64:6 declares that all your effort, works and struggles to become righteous before God are filthy rags.  Try as much as you can, it is impossible to earn righteousness. So, stop trying to ‘do’ in order to ‘become’. Just receive the gift of righteousness from God so that you can live for Him.

Romans 3:20  says: “therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.’’ (KJV) You are not righteous because you read many chapters of the Bible. You do not become righteous by paying tithe, attending church services, fasting and praying, going on evangelism and doing other spiritual activities. However, righteous people read the Bible, pay their tithes, evangelise and so on. In fact, it will be contradicting your nature and character, if you don’t do those things. I am sure that has blown the air off the balloon for those who run off and say, “now that I am righteous, I have the license to live anyhow.”

The truth remains that we receive the gift of righteousness by faith. However, that does not give us a license to sin. If you walk in the consciousness of your righteousness in Christ Jesus, the nature of God and the character of God in you will cause you to conduct yourself like Him anywhere. I challenge you today to be righteousness conscious and watch your light shine in your world. I declare to you that your light will never go dim. Your light will shine more and more.
