RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A GIFT

“For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17 (NKJV)

The Jews, according to Paul were very zealous but had no revelation of the righteousness of God. Consequently, they went about trying to establish their righteousness. But the scripture is very clear: “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:20 KJV). “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.” (Galatians 3:11 KJV)

Righteousness is a gift. It has nothing to do with what you do or don’t do. People who want to establish their righteousness are ignorant of God’s righteousness. Such people are ignorant of what makes us right with God. They are ignorant of who gives you access before God. They have no understanding that righteousness is a gift that God gave to you. All who had received Christ into their lives have undeniable and irrevocable access to the presence of God. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16 KJV). The righteousness of God which you have received is what gives you boldness in God’s presence.

According to the scriptures: “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.” (Romans 10:4 KJV). Are you a believer? The law is over! As far as the law is concerned, you have no business living under it. The law is not supposed to hold you bound. Jesus fulfilled it. Christ is the end of the law.

“The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.” (1 Corinthians 15:56 KJV). The strength of sin is the law. If you want to take away sin, take away the law. If you want to disarm sin, take away the law. That is exactly what Christ did!
