But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life

The God Who formed and fashioned you knows your future. More than anyone, He knows how sin can wreck all that promise and potential.

So, while we were still sinners, God sent Christ to die for us. He went to a cruel tree where He took on our temptation, our sin, and our condemnation.

He was bound there that we might go free. He died that we might live. He wore a crown of thorns that we might become royalty. When He said, “It is finished,” He placed a comma where Satan intended a period.

Accepting Jesus does not merely make us better versions of ourselves. We become new creations. The old sin nature that we inherited from Adam is crucified with Christ. We are dead to sin. We have been cured from a terminal disease.

We were all born with the cancer of sin. Sitting in a church pew will not purge our souls. We could not sing loudly enough or perform enough good deeds to humanly address this disease. But when we accept this free cure of grace from Jesus, we are no longer slaves to sin and death. Majestically, miraculously, and mercifully, He goes to the source of our sin sickness and heals and sets us free to live again!

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. You have been set free! You are no longer a slave to sin, bound to repeat the same old habits. You are free to live right and to do the things that please Him. May you experience the fullness and joy of that freedom. All God’s people say amen!
