But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
What’s the difference between hope and optimism? Optimism hopes for the best without a guarantee. But we have a hope that is guaranteed by the past performances of God. Our provision is found within His promises. And what God has done in the past He can and will do again.
How do I know this? The Bible says that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Has God helped you in the past? Then He will help you again.
Remember when the doctor handed you a diagnosis that medical science couldn’t cure? That day He was the Great Physician. Remember when you were consumed by depression, unable to see past grisly circumstances you were facing? He was your song in the night, and ever-present help in the time of trouble. If He was with you yesterday, in your greatest hour of desperation, why can’t you believe that He will meet your need again? Do you think God can’t handle it? Give Him a try?!
Everyone has problems that are beyond our control and might seem hopeless from a human perspective, but God sees us and He hears our prayers. He simply wants us to call upon His holy name. The biggest tragedy in life is not falling down but staying down. Don’t take such ownership of your problem that it consumes and defines you. Persevere, and hope thou in God!
