The Lord said to Moses, Why do you cry to Me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward! Lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the Israelites shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.— Exodus 14:15-16 (AMPC)
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses felt so inadequate that he kept on telling God what he could not do and did not have. God asked him, “What do you have in your hand?” and Moses replied, “A rod.”
It was an ordinary rod that Moses used every day to herd sheep. God told him to throw it down, which was another way of saying, “Give it to Me.” When He gave the rod back to Moses, it was filled with miracle-working power. Later it was used by Moses to part the Red Sea, and also to perform several other miracles.
In other words, it’s not our abilities that God desires, but our availability. Instead of seeing problems everywhere we look, He wants us to see possibilities. Don’t spend your life thinking “if only” you had a different tool, then you could do something worthwhile.
The truth is, if you’ll give God what you have right now (no matter how little or ineffective you may think it is), He will use it and give you back far more than you gave Him to begin with!Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for wanting me just as I am. Right now, I make myself available and invite You to work in and through my life. Thank You for opening doors for me to do amazing things for You! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
