Memorise: “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” – 1 Corinthians 3:6
Read: Exodus 4:10-16
10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
Bible In One Year: Psalm 120-123, 1 Corinthians 6
MESSAGE:
God called Moses to go and deliver the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt. But Moses had a speech defect: he stammered, so he tried to use that as an excuse for not going until God eventually gave him Aaron, his brother, to support him vocally. That weakness in your life shouldn’t be the reason why you shy away from being used of God. You are perfect just the way you are for God’s use.
The fact that God asked Aaron to help Moses tells us that no one is self sufficient. No matter how anointed, brilliant, intelligent, rich or influential you think you are, you are not self sufficient. No matter how good you think you are, no man is an Island of knowledge. You can always make do with a helping hand.
Don’t ever look down on anyone, they possess a unique gift that you don’t have and you just might need them sometime soon.
Key Point:
Only God is self sufficient and you are not God.
Hymn 8:
- Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise. - Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above,
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love. - To all life thou givest to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee. - Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render; o help us to see;
‘Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee. - Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
