Serving God where He’s placed you

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but the same God empowers them all in everyone.

–1 Corinthians 12:4-6

I heard about a young lad who was out farming one afternoon. He looked up and thought he saw a vision that formed in the clouds. It said “P.C.”.  So he said, “Praise, God! That must mean ‘preach Christ.’” At that moment, he left his plow, left the farm, and went out and preached his very first sermon.

As he was preaching, he told that story about the vision he saw in the clouds with those two letters that told him to “preach Christ.” So after the sermon, an old farmer, who was less than  impressed with the young man’s speaking abilities, walked up to him and said, “Son, I think that ‘P.C.’ you saw in the clouds meant ‘plow corn’!”

Maybe you’ve had a time like that when you thought God was leading you in a specific direction, only to find out later that it wasn’t your gift. Well, the Bible is clear that God has gifted every person differently, and you should always be content with serving God wherever He’s called and equipped you.

So whether you’re meant to be the next Billy Graham or equipped to serve more behind the scenes, remember that God has gifted you perfectly to carry out the calling He’s placed on your life!

GOD HAS GIFTED EVERY CHRISTIAN DIFFERENTLY. SO WHETHER YOU’RE UP FRONT OR BEHIND THE SCENES, REMEMBER YOU’RE GIFTED TO SERVE EXACTLY WHERE HE WANTS YOU!
