Set Apart As God’s People
Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. – (Exodus 19:5–6)
God’s provisions, promises, and even His preferred will flow through His covenant. If you do not know and operate under the covenant, then you cannot exercise the authority that you legally possess.

One of the reasons that the devil may be winning so much in your life in the area of spiritual warfare is if you are not functioning in concert with His covenant, and therefore are not benefitting from the authority of His kingdom. If you will grab the principles of the covenant and apply them to your life, thus operating under God’s kingdom authority, you will see things change for good.
Instead of being under the circumstances, you will begin to walk on them.
In today’s verse, God told Moses that if the Israelites would keep His covenant, they would be a special (holy) people uniquely separated for His purposes. They would not simply be another person or group of people. They would be set apart for God’s use in a special way.
The word holy means “set apart, unique.”
Do you want to be God’s uniquely set-apart follower?
When you function under the umbrella of His covenant, you are positioning yourself to be set apart for His kingdom purposes as well. God’s covenant is specifically tied to His relationship with you. This determines how He works both in and through you to advance His kingdom on earth.
Making God’s covenant one of the primary focal points and foundations of your personal spiritual growth will thrust you further and faster into a deep, abiding, and productive life as a child of the King.
Reflection: What makes a covenant with God important? Who set you aside for holy purposes—you or God? How does an understanding of covenant affect your relationship with God?
Lord, I want to make Your covenant with me a priority in my thoughts. Help me to both understand and follow the precepts You have given to me through Your Word.
