SET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)In this familiar text above, Jesus says something very instructive: “seek first”. This shows that God recognizes the importance of having our priorities straight. Jesus admonishes us to seek first His Kingdom, not seek second or third because everything else that we desire stems from doing first things first. This gives us a template for the rest of our lives, which is: you must put first things first. Therefore, learn to organize your life in order of priority. If you must be at the forefront, then you must be an individual that prioritizes. And of course, from our text we know that our relationship with God is number one because everything else flows out of our relationship with Him.In our world today, we see a lot of misplaced priorities. People chase things! People chase the additions rather than God’s Kingdom. It is just like a farmer chasing the nurturing stage or the harvest stage without planting. It simply cannot work because there would be nothing to harvest. Setting your priorities in order will help you to be successful in all areas of your life because you will put things in the right order. Remember, there is a time to pray, a time to read your bible, a time to work and a time to go to school. Don’t do one and leave out the other. There is a time to cultivate the land, a time to plant, a time to nurture the plant and a time for harvest.  One cannot replace the other and doing them backwards will not help either. If a farmer fails to do what he is supposed to do at the right time and in the right order, more especially for agricultural products, it cascades down and affects everything else. I pray for you that you will achieve results in every area of your lifeFurther Reading: Ecclesiastics 3:1-8Daily Bible Reading: Morning- Psalms 105-106; Evening- 1 Corinthians 3
