MESSAGE:

Signs are important in the physical and spiritual world. God uses signs to show His greatness, glory, power and almightiness. For instance, God showed Moses and the children of Israel many signs (Numbers 17:1-11 ). God also uses signs to reassure His children of His faithfulness like He did to Gideon (Judges 6:36-40 ). God can use signs to draw unbelievers to Him. Believe me, some fellows will not believe in God unless they see signs. For instance, some children of Israel in the time of Elijah didn’t believe in the living God until Elijah called down fire from Heaven (1 Kings 18:37-38 ). God can also give His children signs to warn them about a terrible event that is about to take place. But as good as signs are, it is not good for a child of God to keep asking Him for signs because it means that you don’t totally trust Him. When God speaks to you about something, know that He is able to do what He says.

Another thing about signs is, God can make a fellow become a sign to other fellows. If a fellow is a sign, it means that God did something that nobody can understand in the life of that fellow. This miracle will then make others believe in God. The lame man in Acts 3:1-10 is a classic example of such.

Key Point:

Would you prefer to ask for signs or be the sign?

Hymn: To God Be The Glory, Great Things He Hath Done

  1. To God be the glory, great
    things He hath done,
    So loved He the world
    that He gave us His Son,
    Who yielded His life an
    atonement for sin,
    And opened the life gate
    that all may go in.

Chorus:
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father,
Through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory,
Great things He hath done.

  1. Oh, perfect redemption,
    the purchase of blood,
    To every believer the
    promise of God;
    The vilest offender who
    truly believes,
    That moment from Jesus a
    pardon receives.
  2. Great things He hath taught us,
    Great things He hath done,
    And great our rejoicing
    through Jesus the Son;
    But purer, and higher, and
    greater will be
    Our wonder, our transport,
    when Jesus we see.
