Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes

Science tells us that we are hardwired for negativity. This tendency to focus on the negative poses major ramifications. Those “little foxes” can cause much damage – and even destruction – in the sunny vineyards of our lives. They can rob our joy, sense of worth, and the ability to be productive.

Consider the lame man outside the Beautiful Gate in Acts 3. When Peter pulled him up, his feet and ankle bones were strengthened. Those tiny bones, which seem so insignificant when compared with larger bones of the body, had created many issues for him.

Jewish law prevented the lame from entering the Temple where he could experience the presence of God. He was forced to rely on others for daily assistance. He lived on the meager alms he could beg. Physically, spiritually, financially, and emotionally – something so small had ruined so much for him.

If we focus on the negative, we can be impacted in much the same way. However, when we follow His example, we receive much more than we expect.

Lift up your eyes. Take Jesus’ hand. Allow Him to pull you up. He will strengthen all those “minor” issues, and you will go walking, leaping, and praising God.

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Lift up your eyes and focus on the One Who comes to help and heal. Put your hand in the one that can heal the smallest wound to allow you to live your fullest life. As you encounter Him, may you go walking, leaping, and praising God!
