“And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”1 Kings 18:41 KJV In the book of 1Kings 17:1, the Bible tells us about Elijah the servant of God. Because of the apostasy in the land and the things that he was seeing his spirit was vexed and he decided to stand in for God. So, he confronted Ahab and spoke to him that there would be no rain in the land until he changes his mind. He stood out among others. The land was dry. There was no evidence of rain or freshness in the land. In our text today, the scripture says “Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Get up, eat and drink”. But the question is, where would Ahab get up and drink from?  Don’t forget that water was scarce because there was famine in the landElijah spoke out in faith. He did not allow the contradicting evidence to determine what he said.  Beloved, you must guard what you say with your mouth irrespective of the situation you find yourself. If you don’t guard what you say with your mouth then whatever you get, do not blame any person. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. A child of God must be willing to look at contradicting evidences and speak what he is expecting.

What are your expectations? The situation around you might not look as if anything is going to happen but should that change your confession? Elijah said to Ahab ‘get thee up, eat and drink for there is the sound of abundance of rain.’ That’s a holy audacity. The land was dry but he stood out among the rest to say I hear the sound of abundance of rain. He did not say ‘I hear the sound of abundance of shower.’ What are you expecting? The God you are serving is able to launch you into the billionaire status. If you are in the arena of ‘possible things’ then God is not there. God only functions in the arena of the ‘impossible’ because if it’s possible you do not need God. Today, I challenge you to speak out your expectations.
