Spend More Time in His Word

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16

I once talked with a young pastor about the importance of being biblically accurate and theologically sound in his preaching.  I encouraged him to get some training to make sure that what he taught was actually the Word of God.

His response was, “I just take what I like, what fits, what is entertaining and inspiring.”

That is a frightening thought! When biblical truth is twisted it becomes heresy. How important it is that we are thoroughly grounded in God’s Word so we can grow into mature men and women of God.

Ask God to help you spend more time in His Word in this new year. It is only in the Bible that we can truly learn all that God has done for us and all that He desires to do in and through us as we seek to follow Him each and every day.
