SPREADING THE FRAGRANCE OF CHRIST (1)

2Corinthians 2:14-15 (GNB)
But thanks be to God! For in union with Christ we are always led by God as prisoners in Christ’s victory procession. God uses us to make the knowledge about Christ spread everywhere like a sweet fragrance. For we are like a sweet-smelling incense offered by Christ to God, which spreads among those who are being saved and those who are being lost .

Have you ever been around someone who had a very nice cologne or perfume on? How did their nice scent make you feel? Did it make you want to be around them or to move far away from them? Or maybe you’re in a place where such a person comes in and the fragrance of their nice cologne just fills the entire atmosphere. Sometimes, people may turn their heads to see who came in and some may even go as far as asking, “What cologne do you use?” Some may even try to hug them.

That is the kind of effect God wants us to have on people because of the Gospel of Christ we preach and the life of Christ we manifest. The Contemporary English Version says, “…God also helps us spread the knowledge about Christ everywhere, and this knowledge is like the smell of perfume. In fact, God thinks of us as a perfume that brings Christ to everyone.” (2Cor.2:14b-15a).

This can only happen by the power of the Spirit. He reveals Christ to us, transforms us into more of Christ and empowers us to preach Christ to others. There are people who may not accept the Gospel at first, but by the way you live your life they will be won over to God’s kingdom, (1Pet.3:1-2). By the sweet fragrance of Christ you emit, they will turn their heads and ask to have that same Jesus in their lives.

Prayer:
Dear Father, please reveal Christ to me through your Spirit, make me more like Christ, and use me to spread Christ’s Gospel
