STAND ON A SECURE PLATFORM

“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be.” Romans 4:18 (KJV)

Abraham found himself in a hopeless situation and yet kept on believing against all hope. There are two kinds of hope in this passage. The first hope is talking about human hope. The natural hope. It is like when we tell somebody I hope to be with you tomorrow at noon. This kind of hope looks at every natural condition and factor in place. My expected delivery date is the 6th of September. These are expectations, anticipations, goals or what you are projecting. But from a natural standpoint, things can change. The expected delivery date can change. You are expecting to take an intercontinental flight and suddenly the weather becomes unfavourable and they cancel all the flights. So, that hope did not work.

The second hope is supernatural. It is not based on anything man has done or can do. It is based solely on the word of God. That is the kind of hope the Bible talked about in our scripture for today.

Against hope, Abraham believed in hope. Everything in the natural was saying, “It will not happen,” but Abraham chose to believe. He switched to the supernatural. This hope is the confident expectation that all shall be well. This hope recognizes that God cannot lie: His Word must come to pass. In this arena, your faith is not standing on natural factors or the wisdom of men but on the power of God. Of course, when working on this level of hope, the wind may choose to go contrary but you stand firmly knowing that the word of God is a secure platform.

There are limitations to the wisdom of man. Your faith should stand in the infallible Word of God that has no margin for failure.  In other words, there is a platform to stand on that you can be secured and assured in this world that is fast falling apart.
