Memorise: Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: Exodus 23:2

Bible Reading: Proverbs 1:10-18

  1. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
  2. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
  3. Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
  4. We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
  5. Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
  6. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
  7. For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
  8. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
  9. And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

Bible Reading In One Year: Isaiah 16-18; Ephesians 1:1-23

MESSAGE:

Fire is one of the four basic elements; the rest are water, soil and air. According to scientists, 75% of the world is made up of water, this same element is the major component of the human body. All the elements are significant to life, but fire is distinct. One of the major characteristics of fire is, it does not copy, so you should not copy as a child of God. You should not follow others to do evil. People should be able to tell that you are a child of God by your dressing and speech.

Sometime ago, it was common practice for men to wear flowing Agbada. At that time, it was the worlds way of saying you have arrived. I wore it once or twice a year especially when I want to dance and praise God in my native dialect. Apart from these days, my dressing then singled me out. People complained that looked like a hunter, but I would say I look like my Saviour. When we went to dedicate one of our schools in Sagamu, Ogun state, Nigeria, sometime ago, the Governors representative said although he had never met me, but he identified me by my dressing. As God’s teen, you shouldn’t conform to the dressing styles of the world. You shouldn’t bow to peer pressure. Dare to stand alone.

Key Point:

Standing alone does not make you lonely, Jesus is always with you.

Hymn: Stand Up! Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    Ye soldiers of the Cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    Against unnumbered foes;
    Let courage rise with danger,
    And strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
    Stand in His strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    Put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    Where duty calls, or danger,
    Be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
    The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle,
    The next the victor’s song;
    To him that overcometh,
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    Shall reign eternally.
