STAY IN THE LOVE OF GOD

1John 4:19, Jude 21, 1John 2:16 (LB)

We love him, because he first loved us. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. for all these worldly things, these evil desires—the craze for sex, the ambition to buy everything that appeals to you, and the pride that comes from wealth and importance—these are not from God. They are from this evil world itself. 

The love of God had a very great influence on the life of Jesus. When He was on the earth, Jesus kept on saying God the Father was with Him, (John 8:16 & 29, John 16:32). Jesus also spoke severally about the love God the Father has for Him and also that it’s this same love God the Father has for us, (John 17:23-26). God the Father kept on calling Jesus His beloved Son, (Matt.3:17, Matt.17:5). It is our consciousness of God’s love that makes us fear (reverence) Him – Psa.130:3-4. This reverence for God born out of the consciousness of God’s love is why God answered the prayers of Jesus, (Heb.5:7). No wonder Jesus was so conscious that God the Father always heard Him, (John 11:41-42).

As you focus on Christ and fill yourself with the revelation of the love of God it will influence your life a great deal. The Holy Spirit will spread the revelation of this love in your heart, (Rom.5:5). The love of God will influence, constrain and control your life, (2Cor.5:14-15). It will make you stop living for yourself but for God’s pleasure.

The love of God and the love of the things of the world are inversely proportional. You can’t have both. One drives out the other, (Matt.24:12). The love of God makes you delight in God and His ways.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the great love you have for me. Please help me to keep filling myself with the revelation of this great love.
