STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD THAT IS IN YOU

2Timothy 1:6-7 (KJV, TPT)

…stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. … fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of the spiritual gift God imparted to you when I laid my hands upon you. For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.

The reason Timothy received spiritual gifts when Paul laid hands on him was because when Paul laid hands on him, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. No man can give you spiritual gifts by laying hands on you, but you can be baptized in the Spirit when hands are laid on you. Only the Holy Spirit can give you spiritual gifts, (1Cor.12:11). When hands are laid on you, the gifts of the Spirit that are already in you can be activated. You become aware of them and you are able to stir them up/fan them to flame.

The following are things you can do on your own to activate and fan to flame the gifts of the Spirit in you. Be more Christ conscious. See yourself as Christ manifesting the gift of the Spirit to touch and bless someone’s life. Keep your faith in Christ and release the faith of Christ from your heart. Step out in faith. Don’t be afraid to fail or make mistakes. A child who is afraid to fall will never learn to walk.

Let the love of God fill your heart and overflow from you to the person(s) – Matt.14:14. Be sensitive and yielded to the Spirit of God. Praying in tongues can make you more sensitive to the Spirit and stir up the gifts of the Spirit in your life. Acts 19:6b says “….they spoke in tongues and prophesied.”

Action Point:
Pray in the Spirit and thank God for the gifts of the Spirit in you. Ask God to use you to manifest them and bless lives.
