BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 31-32; Matthew 10:24-42
MESSAGE:
The Bible is the best selling book in the world till date. Never have we had more Bibles in the world that we have in this generation. Asides the printed copies of the Bible, practically everyone has a Bible on their phones. It is however tragic that there has never been a time when less people have studied the Bible than in this generation. We have Christians today who hardly read their Bibles except on Sundays. This is also the reason we see less and less miracles happening in people’s lives today. Your Bible is meant to edify you and make you a better Christian. It is meant to build your faith (Romans 10:17), it is your guard against committing sin (Psalm 119:11), it is the means through which God corrects your lifestyle when you go wrong (2 Timothy 3:16-17). A Christian that does not study his Bible is already backsliding.
There are many benefits of studying your Bible. There is great wisdom in meditating on God’s word. Just ensure you study at least one chapter everyday before you leave home. You can start with the interesting stories, then you grow from there. Show me a teenager that who studies his Bible often, meditates on it and obey all that is in it, then I will show you a teenager with a great future (Joshua 1:8).
Reflection:
How often do you study your Bible?
Hymn 3:
1 When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3 Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4 But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5 Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
