TAKE A FIRM STAND FOR GOD

“For he clave to the Lord, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses.” 2 Kings 18:6 (KJV)

The book of second Kings 18 talks about King Hezekiah, one of the kings of Judah and how he restored the worship of God after Israel had gone astray to serve idols. He opened the temple when it was shut and restored a lot of things that pertained to the worship of God during his reign.

However, Judah began to face challenges. The Assyrians came up against all the ten cities of Judah and took them. Now, you may be wondering why the man that had restored everything to God is coming under attack. You see, the fact that you are under grace and you love God does not mean that you cannot be attacked. The activity of the devil is on the increase. Just as God wants to perfect what He has started in your life, the devil also wants to complete all his schemes.

King Hezekiah was paying tribute to the King of Assyria but he stopped and so they came after Judah. Sometimes, the devil comes after you when you make up your mind that you won’t serve him again. He will attack you and try to bring you back to his slavery. You must realize that the devil never gives up easily. The scripture tells us that when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places seeking rest and when he cannot find any, it comes back with seven more dangerous spirits to attack him.

At a time like this, what we must do is to leverage on grace and make up your mind and say, “I will not let anything ungodly have dominion over me again. I am going to dedicate my life to God. I will serve Him. I will pursue Him and I will never be at the side line as a spectator.” Otherwise, you may end up going back to your old ways, just as Hezekiah gave in to the king of Assyria.
