“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”
Joshua 1:8 KJV
Today, we have a clientele of believers who are not committed to anything spiritual. They are not ready to pay any price but they want results. All they are interested in is to say ‘Pastor, please pray for me’ and off they go. It doesn’t work out like that, because like I would always say, God will not do for you what you can do for yourself. You must be ready to take responsibility for your own life.
For instance, in Joshua 1:1-4, Joshua had just been appointed by God to take over from Moses who was already dead. The responsibility to take the people to the Promised Land fell squarely on his shoulders. If Joshua was to ever fulfil destiny, he needed to carry out the mandate according to God’s standards. The Kingdom assignment was of utmost importance and he could not afford to fail. And if he was to ever succeed in his assignment, he had no choice than to connect with the God of the assignment. He knew he had to pray. That’s taking responsibility.
However, prayer was not all he did. He also had to follow God’s principles. God gave him a template for good success. The instruction was very clear. The scriptures say in Joshua 1:8, ‘’This book of the law shall not depart from thy mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written therein, for then you shall make thy way prosperous and you shall have good success.” In other words, until you stay in the Word, you cannot have good success. As you take responsibility, I declare that the grace of God will uphold you, open doors for you and make a way for you even where there seems to be no way.
