In the day when I called, You answered me; and You strengthened me with strength (might and inflexibility to temptation) in my inner self.— Psalm 138:3 (AMPC)

Temptation to do wrong can make you feel horrible. You may think, I shouldn’t be going through this; I shouldn’t be having a problem with this. But God taught me that temptation isn’t sin; we sin when we give in to temptation, not when it tries to come against us, so we don’t need to feel guilty when we’re tempted.

The Bible says temptation will come (see Matthew 17:7), and Jesus told us to pray not that we would never be tempted, but that we wouldn’t give in to it when we are (see Luke 22:40).

Psalm 105:4 is a great reminder of this to start your day. It says, Seek, inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence [continually] evermore (AMPC).

As you seek Jesus more and more, He’ll give you more and more strength to withstand temptation.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for giving me the grace I need to resist temptation. Please help me remember to look to You every time temptation rears its ugly head in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
