THANK GOD FOR GOOD FRIDAY

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” John 19:30 (KJV)

This scripture aptly captures the highest point of Good Friday when Jesus declared “It is Finished”. He said, “It is Finished”. What was He referring to? Was it just the pains and agony He went through? The moment He gave up the ghost, He had no feeling of pain anymore. Was that what He was referring to? Absolutely not.

When Jesus said, “It is Finished,” He was referring to the payment for sin and all that sin brought upon humanity. When He said, “It is Finished,” He was saying the FULL PRICE has been paid. Every punishment has been received, and there is nothing more for us to pay; He took it all and paid it all. That is why today is referred to as Good Friday.

Normally, you do not rejoice when someone dies, but today, we rejoice and celebrate because of what His death signifies for us. Now we can get up, square up our shoulders and lay full claim on the benefits of the cross because the price was fully paid. We can now confront the devil, eyeball to eyeball, and demand that he takes his hands off anything that concerns us because the price has been paid. We can reject any and every sickness the devil tries to put on us because the price has been paid. Hallelujah!!!

This should excite you; it should put some springs on your feet. It should make you dance and shout for joy because the price has been paid. But the story did not end there. Yes, He died, but on Easter Sunday, He arose. He arose triumphant and boldly declared to us “All power is given to me in heaven and in earth” Matt. 28:18. Halleluyah! Not some power but all power and He lives in us, so all power is available to us. That is why He sent us in that power to go into all the world and preach the good news. Beloved, we should be too excited to sit still, let us go into all the world and tell the good news that the price has been paid and we are now free. There is no condemnation.
