Memorise: But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Corinthians 8:6

Read: Revelation 22:12-13

  1. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
  2. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 20-21; James 1:1-27

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, we are introduced to Jesus as the Alpha. Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet. It also means the beginning. Jesus is the origin, the source of every living and non living thing. John 1:3 says, All things were made by him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. You did not originate from your parents but from Jesus Christ. You are a divine product that came out of God. That is why He is not happy whenever you look away from Him to a fellow man. The day you truly embrace this truth with your heart, you will stop relying on man.

Another implication of Jesus being the Alpha is that He can give you a new beginning. These days, the things teens get involved in can be very shocking. Are you one of those teens who have gotten involved in atrocities? The Beginning can give you a new start, a second chance at life. Have you failed repeatedly and have now given up on trying again? Pick up yourself and try again, this time working harder and relying on the Alpha for a wonderful result. You serve a God who is the source of everything. You serve a God of new beginnings. Why don’t you live your life in total surrender to Him?

Prayer Points:

Father, I know you are my origin. I surrender all to you.

Hymn: Christian Seek Not Yet Repose

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose,
    Hear thy guardian angel say,
    “Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray!
  2. Principalities and powers,
    Mustering their unseen array,
    Wait for thine unguarded hours:
    “Watch and pray!
  3. Gird thy heavenly armour on,
    Wear it every night and day,
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    “Watch and pray!
  4. Hear the victors who overcame;
    Still they mark each warrior’s way,
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    “Watch and pray!
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou lovest to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word,
    “Watch and pray!
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    “Watch and pray!
