The Attitude of Gratitude: A Prayer of Supplication

NOVEMBER 14, 2020

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day.
2 Timothy 1:3

 Recommended Reading: 2 Timothy 1:1-7

The great apostle Paul was grateful to God for specific people the Lord had placed around Him. You can add your own specific names here, but today let’s follow Paul’s example.

Lord, I thank You whom I serve with a pure conscience as I remember with gratitude those You have brought into my life. What an honor! Out of the billions of people who have lived in history and who live today, there are some who know my name. Lord, I thank You for ____________ and ________________ (family members), even those who sometimes contribute to my burden. I thank You for my closest friends: _____________, ___________, _________________. My praise rises to You for those who lead my church ___________, _____________, and _______________; and for those who do the humble jobs in my congregation but are ever faithful, such as: ________________, ______________, and _________________. And Lord, I can even thank You for someone who frustrates me because You are using that person to teach me patience.

When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in.
