“For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much, but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” – LUKE 7:47
What did this woman – this “sinner” as Luke describes her – who anointed the feet of Jesus with perfume receive in return? She got what I call “the big three.” She got all anyone could need for the rest of their lives. First, she received the capacity to love because she realized the depth of her sin and how completely and how deeply she had experienced forgiveness. Second, she received joy. The burden and the guilt of her sin had been lifted and she had been set free. And third, she received peace. Literally, Jesus said to her, ‘Your faith has saved you, go into peace.’” The rest of her life would be an adventure of peace. Love… joy… peace. Sounds like a pretty good exchange.
