The Coming Trillionaire

MARCH 15, 2022

He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase.
Ecclesiastes 5:10

 Recommended Reading: Proverbs 22:1-4

One day in the not-to-distant future we’re going to learn about the world’s first trillionaire. Elon Musk is about a third of the way there. Imagine the headlines that will accompany the announcement of one single person, whoever he or she is, who gains a net worth of a trillion dollars!

That person will be penniless and poverty-stricken compared to the child of God who trusts the Lord for all the provisions of life. While we should work hard, save wisely, give generously, and manage our material wealth with wisdom, we shouldn’t be consumed with gaining earthly wealth.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, “Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!” (NLT) The Lord knows how to satisfy our hearts while meeting all our needs. It’s not just our material needs He supplies. He takes care of us emotionally, spiritually, relationally, mentally, and eternally. A trillion dollars is nothing compared to a heart trusting in God.

God knows what we need and can always be trusted to provide it. And by giving us our daily bread, God is teaching us a deeper lesson. He wants us to learn that what we really need is himself.
