The definition of pure worship

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

–Matthew 21:12-13

One of the craziest interviews I’ve ever seen happened in 1994, when sports reporter Jim Rome interviewed quarterback Jim Everett. Rome had been making fun of Everett on his show for a while, and continued to egg him on very early in the interview.

Everett was tired of Rome constantly poking fun at him, so he got up during the interview, turned over the table that was between them, and threw Jim Rome on the ground as the network very quickly cut to a break.

Many people in the sports world felt like Everett was justified in his actions because of Rome’s behavior. Even though it was a violent act, they thought he was right to do it.

When Jesus walked into the temple and saw money-changers taking advantage of worshippers, He got angry as well. He was under control, but acted violently in order to communicate the importance of pure worship of God.

That’s how much Jesus values real worship… worship that comes from the heart and is done in Spirit and in truth. So get rid of dishonesty and hypocrisy in your worship. Approach God with clean hands and a pure heart through faith in Jesus Christ!

APPROACH GOD IN WORSHIP WITH A PURE HEART THROUGH YOUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST
