THE EFFECT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.” (Isaiah 32:17 KJV)

When you finally understand and come to terms with your righteousness in Christ, you will enter into the arena of peace. Righteousness delivers Shalom to you. The word ‘Shalom’ means Peace- nothing broken and nothing missing in your life! And the effect it produces in your life is quietness and assurance. You must understand that peace, quietness and assurance are not really the absence of challenges; rather, it’s a knowing that no matter the challenges, your victory is guaranteed! When you have the peace of God, no matter the storm, you will be relaxed knowing that head or tail, you win.

The peace, quietness and assurance that righteousness produces can be seen in the account of Jesus in the storm with His disciples in Mark 4:35-41. While the turbulence was on, Jesus was peacefully asleep. The storm could not wake Him until the disciples called on Him.  The disciples were so amazed that He could be asleep during the storm. They did not know what Jesus knew. He knew that He was on an assignment and it was impossible for anything to kill Him before the assignment was fulfilled.  Secondly, He knew that His Father was in absolute control. Think of it! Why should you panic when your Father who loves you so much is in absolute control? That experience was a display of the work of righteousness which is peace and the effect which is quietness and assurance.

We have an assurance from God’s Word that the devil cannot terminate your life. You will not fall under satanic attacks. Behold, they shall surely gather, but not by me: whosoever shall gather against you shall fall for thy sake” (Isaiah 54:15 KJV). “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn…” (Isaiah 54:17 KJV). Nothing should make you lose sleep because you are a child of a King and you have the mandate of the most High over your life.
