The Father’s Business

BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 30-31

Rhema for Living 5 April 2022 Devotional TEXT: “And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”. – Luke 2 :49.

Rhema for Living 5 April 2022 Devotional MESSAGE:

In the passage of scripture above, Jesus Christ reveals to us the passion in which we should go about our Father’s business. If God truly is your Father and you can refer to Him, as ‘My Father’ as Jesus did, and you truly love Him, then His business should also be your business. What matters to Him such as the enlargement and prosperity of the kingdom should also matter to you.

In the scenario of our text they sought for Jesus elsewhere among their kinsfolk and acquaintance (Luke 2 :44) and when they did not find him, they returned back again to Jerusalem still seeking him and after three days, they found him in the temple sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them and asking them questions.

He was twelve years of age yet full of passion and drive for matters of the kingdom; learning and preparing for ministry. He was that young yet he asked them why they sought him because he expected them to have known by revelation or by observation that he should be about his Father’s business.

Child of God, in this your present age, can you ask that question confidently in respect to your Father’s business? If they seek you when service is going on in church, will they find you elsewhere probably in your store or office attending to other matter? If there is departmental meeting in church, and they need your attention where will they find you?

How can your so call friends and colleagues always call you during church service? It is because they are yet to see your seriousness in matters of the kingdom. They are yet to know your passion for your Father’s business. It’s an error for anyone to look for you at home on Sunday morning thinking you did not go to church.

If God is your Father, you ought to be about His business as Jesus did.

PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray now, help me to be about your business like Jesus.
