MESSAGE:
I learnt certain things in my formative years, one of them is that the fear of Lord will keep you from sin. The situation of things in this modern world calls for a return to holy reverence for God.
While in Secondary School, the first thing we did in the morning was devotions. And the teachers never failed to teach us to fear God, He sees you, He knows what you are doing. Be careful. When we get back to our hostels, the Lagos boys would gather us and begin to incite us to riot and fight for one reason or another. On one occasion, they wanted us to riot because the food was horrible and they found out that the person supplying the food was the principal’s relative, so they wanted us to fight for our right rather than follow laid down rules that guides submission of such complaints. Each time this happened, I and some of the other boys would repeat what we were told at the devotion and exclude ourselves from the rebellious bunch. Many of the rebellious boys never completed their education. You have to remind yourself every time that God is everywhere and sees all things and ultimately rewards everyone according to their deeds. Be wise.
Key Point:
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Hymn 3:
- When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
- Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey. - Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey. - But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey. - Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
