THE FULLNESS OF THE SPIRIT 2
Isaiah 11:1-2 (NKJV), Revelation 3:1
There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.*And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars…
In our study yesterday, we saw what the Bible means by being filled with the fullness of the Spirit and we contrasted it with what the people in the Old Testament had, which was just a dimension or measure of the Spirit. Another contrast is that most times in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came in a measure or dimension and He ‘visited’ them, then later, He departed. But in our case, He doesn’t visit us and departs. We receive the fullness of the Spirit and He dwells in us in His fullness, (Rom.8:11). We are His permanent abode and the fullness of His anointing abides in us always, (1 John 2:27); as long as our faith is in Christ.
There are a few scriptures like that in our second text above that talk about the seven Spirits of God. This does not mean that God has seven Spirits. It is a term used to express the fullness or perfect measure of the Spirit. It is also believed that this fullness of seven dimensions is as stated in our first text above: The Spirit of the LORD, the Spirit of wisdom, the Spirit of understanding, the Spirit of counsel, the Spirit of might, the Spirit of knowledge and the Spirit of the fear of the LORD.
In other words, referring to the operation of Spirit where He produces each of these things in us. By the fullness of the Spirit, we can also manifest His fruit (Gal.5:22-23) and His gifts, (1Cor.12:7-10).
Prayer Focus:
Pray in the Spirit now and thank God for the fullness of His Spirit that is operational in your life. Rejoice!
