THE FULLNESS OF THE SPIRIT

John 3:34 (NKJV, TPT, CEV)

For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.* “The One whom God has sent to represent him will speak the words of God, for God has poured out upon him the fullness of the Holy Spirit without limitation. * The Son was sent to speak God’s message, and he has been given the full power of God’s Spirit.

In our text above, John the Baptist was talking about Jesus and he said when God sent Jesus, God did not give Him the Spirit by measure. That is, God gave Him the Spirit without limit. God filled Jesus with the fullness of the Spirit. Do you know what? God has also filled you with the fullness of the Spirit, because God has also sent you the same way He sent Jesus, (John 20:21).

Do you know that there was nobody in the Old Testament that was filled with the fullness of the Spirit? Sometimes they were only filled with a dimension or measure of the Spirit. The Bible says, “And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: ….” (Deut.34:9). Prophet Micah said, “But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin,” (Mic.3:8). In other cases, the Spirit only came upon them at specific times for specific assignments. Sometimes the Bible describes this as the hand of the Lord coming upon them, (2Kings 3:15).

If all these people in the Old Testament could do such great exploits when they had the Spirit in a measure, what do you think can be done by you, who have the fullness of the Spirit, just like Jesus?

Prayer:
Father, I thank you that you have filled me with the fullness of your Spirit just like Jesus. Nothing is impossible for me.
