THE GIFT AND NATURE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Romans 3:21-24 (NIV)

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

The righteousness that we have freely received from God by our faith in Christ is both a gift and a nature. Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offence, death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Romans 4:25 shows us that Christ died for our offenses and He was raised up again for our justification. The Living Bible says, “He died for our sins and rose again to make us right with God, filling us with God’s goodness.”

Because of what Adam did, we received the nature of sin and now because of what Christ did we have received the nature of righteousness. You must believe this. It was a gift. Just as the nature of sin made you produce sinful works as you grew in the consciousness of it, God’s nature of righteousness in you will make you produce righteous works and fruits as you grow in the consciousness of it.

Our nature changed when we were justified. We weren’t just forgiven. Right now, we must exercise and express the new nature we have received in Christ. When we died on the cross with Christ, the power of sin was removed from our lives, and we were given the ability to manifest God’s righteous nature.

Faith Declaration:
By my faith in Christ I have received God’s righteous nature and character.
