7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Reading In One Year: Psalms 47-49; Acts 26:1-32

MESSAGE:

The life of a Christian isn’t an easy ride. It’s a battle and you must determine to fight until you win. Of course, winning is not so easy. You must be determined to reach your goal. Paul the Apostle is a good example of what it means to be a tireless fighter. A man who himself said he was the chief of sinners before Jesus saved him. After salvation, he suffered terribly, he was intensely persecuted, imprisoned, beaten and stoned. In fact, he confessed that he despaired for life. They did everything to kill him, but he held on, he was determined to reach his goal. In Acts 20:24 he said But none of these move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy his determination was unique. At the end, he was able to say I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

This life is full of so many distractions for Christians and as teenagers, you will have more distractions. So you have to make up your mind to fight every distraction that comes your way. Your ultimate goal every morning when you wake up is to take decisions that solidify your bond with God.

Prayer Point:

Lord Jesus, it is my heart desire to please you with my life. Please help me.

Hymn: Onward Christian Soldiers

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers,
    marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master,
    Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle,
    See his banner go.

Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus
Who is gone before.

  1. At the name of Jesus,
    Satan’s host doth flee;
    On then, Christian
    soldiers, on to victory!
    Hell’s foundations quiver
    at the shout of praise;
    Brothers, lift your voices,
    loud your anthems raise!
  2. Like a mighty army
    moves the church of God;
    Brothers, we are treading
    where the saints have trod;
    We are not divided;
    all one body we,
    One in hope and
    doctrine, one in charity.
  3. Crowns and thrones may perish,
    Kingdoms rise and wane;
    But the Church of Jesus
    Constant will remain:
    Gates of hell can never
    ‘Gainst that Church prevail;
    We have Christ’s own promise-
    And that cannot fail.
  4. Onward, then, ye people,
    join our happy throng,
    Blend with ours your
    voices in the triumph song;
    Glory, praise, and
    honour, unto Christ the King;
    This through countless ages,
    Men and angels sing.
