THE GOSPEL IS THE HOPE FOR OUR NATION

Isaiah 61:1-3 (LB)

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of God’s favor to them has come, and the day of his wrath to their enemies. To all who mourn … he will give: beauty for ashes; joy instead of mourning; praise instead of heaviness.

The glorious redemption that comes via the preaching of the gospel of Christ, is the strongest vehicle for the transformation of a nation. We are privileged to have this great responsibility of telling people about what Jesus has done for them and bringing them into the experience of God’s love and power for their lives. Just by following Jesus, the lives of His disciples were so transformed that people were amazed at the level of their boldness and results (Acts 4:13). Jesus wants to touch and transform more lives like this in our nation. This is why we must keep preaching the gospel. When Jesus met with Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1-10, Zacchaeus was so touched that on his own, he decided to give half of his goods to the poor and to restore four fold of all he had taken falsely from others.

A lot of people are preaching today, but not so many people are preaching Christ. As we focus on Christ in our preaching, we will see more results in the lives of people and in our nation. Acts 8:5-8 shows us that as Philip went to Samaria and preached Christ, there were so many testimonies and transformations and there was great joy in that city. As we preach Christ more, people will have real encounters with Jesus and their lives will be transformed just like it happened to people like Saul, Zacchaeus and many others.

Titus 2:11-13 shows us that the grace of God that brings salvation empowers us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and makes us live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. Jesus sent us to make disciples of all nations and not just converts, (Matt.28:19-20). We must teach converts the ways of Christ till they are living it and are filled and overflowing with the Spirit of God.

Prayer Focus:
Pray for the spread of the true gospel of Christ around our nation. Ask God to use you to preach the gospel to others also.
