The Grace to Stay Connected to God’s Word

Psalms 119:50-52, 81, 161-162 (AMP)
This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life. The proud have had me greatly in derision, yet have I not declined in my interest in or turned aside from Your law. When I have […] recalled Your ordinances from of old, O Lord, I have taken comfort. *My soul languishes and grows faint for Your salvation, but I hope in Your word. *Princes pursue and persecute me without cause, but my heart stands in awe of Your words […]. I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great spoil.

What gives you comfort in your times of distress? What gives you strength in your times of weakness? What gives you hope in your times of despair? If you are willing to remember and keep your mind on God’s word, it will comfort you, strengthen you and fill your heart with hope. Furthermore, as you hold on to God’s word, the glory and the power of God will manifest in your life. But if you allow what you are facing physically cause you to despise and forget God’s word in your trying time, you will miss out on the comfort, strength, hope and blessing that God has already provided for you via His word. The Bible warns that those that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy (Jonah 2:8). Everything that you are facing that is not in line with God’s word concerning your life is a lying vanity. Don’t allow it to discourage you or cause you to miss out on the grace and mercy God wants to grant you in that situation.

In our text above, the psalmist wrote that even when people mocked him and princes pursued and persecuted him for no reason, he remained focused on God’s word. One thing you must realized is that there are some tribulations and persecutions that arise in your life simply because of God’s word (Matt.13:21). They are trying to render you discouraged and disconnected from God’s word because of what it is about to produce in your life. Make God’s word the rock of your life. Throughout His temptation, Jesus kept on declaring God’s word and He got victory. If you are willing to fix your mind on God’s word, the Holy Spirit will bring it to your remembrance. Don’t give up God’s word. Keep meditating on God’s word, keep praying in line with God’s word, keep confessing and declaring God’s word. Keep preaching God’s word too.

Prayer:
Dear Father, your word is the rock of my life. I receive your grace to focus and hold on to your word, no matter what else is going on in my life.
