THE LAST ADAM

1Corinthians 15:45-48 (NKJV)

…“The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.

Do you know why Jesus is called the last Adam? It’s because as He died on the Cross, He ended the Adamic generation. As Jesus died on the Cross, in the Spirit, He put an end to everything that was associated with Adam and His lineage and the fall of man.

As Jesus rose again, He began a new generation and lineage of mankind – the New Creation. This is why He is also called the second Man in our text above. He is the second type of man God created. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” The way Adam was before the fall was good, but if you are in Christ, God did not make you like Adam was before the fall. God has made you like Christ. You are a higher kind of being than Adam was before the fall. You are also not like Christ was when He was on earth. The way Christ was when He was on the earth was wonderful, but that is not how you are. You are as Christ is now, (1 John 4:17). After Christ died and rose from the dead, He became more glorious than He was before His death. That’s why He began doing things He couldn’t do before His death, like walking through walls and shut doors, (John 20:19). After Christ rose from the dead, God promoted Him. God gave Him the highest authority in all the universe, (Phil.2:8-11, Matt.28:18).

Faith Declaration:
I am of Christ. I am not of Adam. As the last Adam, Christ ended the Adamic generation. As Christ is now, so am I.
