MEMORISE: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33
READ: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Leviticus 15-17; Matthew 27:1-31
MESSAGE:
“And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:25.
If you take a cue from the beginning everything God created had to mix and relate with their own kind. God made it so for a reason. He knows that if the eagle begins to mix with the chickens, it will never be able to fly beyond the level of a chicken. As a child of God, you are a special kind. However, if you begin to mix with people that are not children of God, you will soon lose your sonship. The children of the world may seem like the cool ones today. They may be getting all the attention and being hailed everywhere they go. You may want some of that attention to rub off on you too, but beware, don’t try to mix with them because you are of a different kind. Psalms 1:1 says:
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
What fellowship has light got to do with darkness? What are you doing with unbelievers? No matter how hard you try, if you keep listening to their conversations and head for the same destinations with them, your good manners will be corrupted (1 Corinthians 15:33). Wherefore, come out from amongst them and be ye separate (2 Corinthians 6:17).
Key Point:
No matter how hard you try, if you keep listening to their conversations and head for the same destinations with them, your good manners will be corrupted.
Hymn 1:
- Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed. - Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout. - Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there. - Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.
