THE LOVE DIMENSION OF GOD’S LIGHT
*Isaiah 58:7-8, Matthew 5:16 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. *Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

In Isaiah 58, the people of God complained that even though they were fasting and praying, God was not answering their prayers. Through Prophet Isaiah, God declared that it was their lack of love that was hindering their prayers. Even though they appeared religious and had perfected putting on an outward show of spirituality, they were still inherently wicked and self-focused during their time of fasting. As seen in our first text above, one of the things that God promised His people that they would experience as a result of walking in love and doing His will is that their light would break forth as the morning. In other words, a new dimension of God’s light and glory would be clearly seen in their lives.
1John 3:14-15 says, “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”
Do not allow anything to stop you from walking in love because that thing wants to hinder the light of God from increasing in your life. In 1John 2:10-11 the Bible says, “He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.” If we are genuinely following God, we should be walking in love and loving others as Jesus loves us, (Eph. 5:1-2). See every opportunity to walk in love as an opportunity to increase in God’s light and maximize such opportunity.
Prayer:
I thank you Dear Father, that by your life in me, I can love people like you do. Help me to grow in my love for others.
