Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.— Psalm 48:9 (NIV)

The Love of God

We often hear that God loves us, but ask yourself if you truly believe it and if you’re taking time to meditate on His love. The love of God is what casts out fear (see 1 John 4:18). If we know that God loves us, then we know He will take care of us and meet our needs.

Today’s scripture speaks of meditating within His temple on His unfailing love. Remember you are the temple of God. First Corinthians 3:16 (NIV) says, Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?

We can and should think throughout each day about how much God loves us. Some people might view that as prideful, but God’s Word tells us to do it. The Bible says that we know and rely on the love God has for us: And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him (1 John 4:16 AMPC).

We cannot dwell in God’s love without also thinking about it. He doesn’t love us because we deserve it, but because He is good, and He is love (see Psalm 107:1; 1 John 4:8). As your revelation of God’s love for you deepens, the less fear and worry you will have—and the bolder and more confident you will become and the more valued you will feel.

Prayer of the Day: Father, thank You for loving me. Help me think about Your love for me often.
