Silent but very potent is the mother’s blessing. The blessing of the womb and breast is very important to facilitate good and avert evil from one’s life, which is why the scripture says, “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth” (Ephesians 6 :2 – 3).

Same scripture was repeated in Exodus 20:21; and Deutronomy 5 :16; to let you know it’s importance. There are prayers you have been praying and they seem delayed because your mother has not prayed for you. A mother’s prayer puts a seal on your prayers, for a praying mother travails for her child before the Lord. Obeying God’s command in Lamentation 2 :19. Do all you can to make your mother happy. Her being at peace with you facilitates your journey. That was why all through scriptures there are wise counsels, “My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother”. (Prov. 1 :8) and “My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother” (Prov. 6 :20). Fathers gives commands but mothers have laws on how to achieve them.

A mother’s law patterns you in the way you should go. Even as much as we condemned the act of Rebecca against her son Esau but aiding Jacob to take the father’s blessing, when you look critically at what fueled her action, you will see that she was pleased with her son Jacob and was delighted in his ways while that if Esau grieved her, for the scripture says he a was profane person who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright (Heb. 12 :16). May God give you understanding.

PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray now, may the blessing of my mother rest on me
