THE NEED FOR A SOUND RELATIONSHIP

Dear Reader,

Welcome to another new month! I count it a great privilege to bring you God’s Word. This week, I will be examining The Need for a Sound Relationship. 

A sound relationship is free from defect, decay and damage. It is a relationship in good condition, unshakable, healthy and valid. These are the kind of relationships God expects us to be involved in. A relationship is a vital force in the human race, and your association defines your destination. No relationship ever leaves you the same; they either add to you or take away from you. That is why there is a need to pay attention to the kind of relationship you get into. The Word says: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20). Scripturally, understanding how to build and keep a sound, healthy and godly relationship is very vital as this defines whether you fulfil your destiny or not.

Why do you Need a Sound Relationship?

To build relationships that will positively influence your life, you must have a full knowledge of the reasons God wants us to be involved in relationships. There are two basic things that you must understand, they are:

•  By Nature, God is Involved in Relationships. The Bible says: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one (1 John 5:7). There is a powerful relationship between the God, the Son and the Holy Spirit; the Bible says these three are one. Here is a vivid picture of God’s relational nature: in the Garden of Eden, God related well with Adam before the fall. Also, God knew that Adam needed a helpmeet, relationship and companionship, so He brought Eve. Thus, understand that God is involved in relationships. So, it is necessary for us to get involved.  
• Man is created to relate. The Word says: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them (Genesis 1:27). Man is created in the image of God; therefore, he is expected to relate and connect. Nobody can ever live successfully in isolation; we all need one another. No matter what level you find yourself, you need people to help you get to where you are going in life (Ephesians 4:16).

However, to effectively build a sound relationship, you must be born again. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Now, I know I am born again!
